Addu Atoll is sometimes referred to as "The Genuine Maldives" for its abundant and diversified ecological environment, including Addu Nature Park. Most notable of these are the white terns, the same soft powdery white as the sands of Maldivian beaches, locally known as Dhondheeni. These delightful birds are native to Addu Atoll and can only be found in the South of the Maldives.

Addu Nature Park is open Mondays to Thursdays and on Saturdays from 08:00-12:00 and 13:00-17:30. On Sundays, the park is open from 14:00-17:30. During Friday, the park is open from 08:00-10:00 and 14:00-17:30 with a break for the Friday prayers. The Entry fee is MVR 5/- (for locals) and US$ 7 (for foreigners).
